Department of Pastoral Care
St. Mary’s Center is the first and only Harlem-based residential healthcare facility for people with AIDS. Founded in 1992, the 40-bed center offers intensive support for residents including comprehensive medical care, nutritional counseling, pastoral counseling, health education, substance abuse counseling, and case management.
At St. Mary’s, the resident is the most important member of the healthcare team.
The goal of care and treatment is to enable each resident to function at his or her optimal level and to return to the community when possible.
St. Mary’s also offers Adult Day Health Care for clients who are well enough to remain at home and receive daily medical support in an outpatient setting. The ADHC seeks to reduce emergency room visits and hospitalizations by increasing accessibility to the physician. The ADHC’s substance abuse program supports both the harm reduction and abstinence models.
Admissions: (212) 665-5992.
