Statement
The
HealthCare Chaplaincy
is a multifaith
community of
professionals
from many cultures
dedicated to
caring for persons
in spirit, mind,
and body.
We are committed
to excellence
and leadership
in pastoral care,
education, and
research.
The
HealthCare Chaplaincy
(HCC), incorporated
in 1961, is one
of the largest
and most influential
multifaith, not-for-profit
centers for pastoral
care, education,
research, and
consulting in
the world. From
its operational
hub in Manhattan,
The Chaplaincy’s
clinical staff
provides professional
spiritual care
to patients,
families, and
staff of all
faiths in numerous
healthcare institutions
throughout the
greater New York
region. HCC’s
accredited education
programs teach
clergy and qualified
laypersons of
all religious
traditions the
art and science
of pastoral care.
The research
and consulting
services are
focused on studying
and promoting
best practice
and quality assurance
in pastoral care.
The accomplished
staff of certified
chaplains and clinical
pastoral education
faculty includes
individuals from
diverse ethnic,
racial, and religious
backgrounds who
possess a wide
range of skills
and expertise.
Many are recognized
leaders within
the national and
international pastoral
care communities.
Strategically
governed by a board
of mission-driven
trustees, The HealthCare
Chaplaincy has
been independently
rated as one of
the nation’s
most efficiently
managed charities.
Consistently, more
than eighty percent
of its annual budget
is allocated directly
to its far-reaching
and pace-setting
clinical, educational,
and research programs
and a broad array
of innovative community
outreach services.
