NEW TRUSTEES

Donald B. Christian
is a partner in global risk management solutions for Pricewaterhouse-Coopers. With over 11 years of experience in information system controls auditing, he specializes in risk management for complex systems implementation in sectors that include high technology, manufacturing, financial services, and government. Originally from Jamaica, West Indies, Don holds an accounting degree from Howard University and has CPA and CISA certification.

Edward D. Herlihy, a partner at Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz, has been extensively involved in complex bank mergers and acquisitions, including Bakers Trust/ Deutsche Bank, Bank of America/NationsBank, and Wells Fargo/Norwest. Ed writes and lectures regularly on issues involving banking and finance. He is a graduate of Hobart College and George Washington University Law School.

Carolina Jaramillo-Johnson A full-time mother and a consultant to Telemundo Network, the multilingual Associated Press Award winner was, until recently, Telemundo’s national television correspondent for the Latino community. Carolina has produced, written, and anchored for Bloomberg Television’s Latin American broadcast, reported for Univision/WXTV, and been a Tokyo-based freelance reporter for Spanish publications. She holds a master of journalism degree from Columbia University and is a member of AFTRA.

Edward L. Gardner is chairman and president of Industrial Solvents Corporation and Industrial Petro-Chemicals, and chairman and director of The Bank of New York’s Hamilton Funds. He serves as national vice-chairman of Big Brothers/Big Sisters of America and chairman of the New York City chapter. Ed is a board member of the Points of Lights Foundation, Mercy College, and The Sherry Netherlands Hotel, and a council member of Rockefeller University.

Margaret M. Hill Native New Yorker, Fordham Law School and New York University School of Law graduate, Peggy was assistant counsel to the commission on reapportionment to the state legislature. A producer since 1990, her credits include Marvin’s Room, (Drama Desk Award), Oleanna, and Jelly’s Last Jam (Tony Award.) Peggy serves on the boards of Angela House and Pianofest, the Fordham Law School Alumni Association, and the advisory council to the president of St. Mary’s College.

Michael J.A. Smith, managing director of Banker’s Trust Company’s Fiduciary Services area since 1988, has recently assumed the role of coordinator for the Private Bank’s Wealth with Responsibility program. Mike has earned the Certified Trust and Financial Advisor (CTFA) designation from the Institute of Certified Bankers and the Accredited Estate Planner (AEP) designation from the National Association of Estate Planners. He serves on the planned gifts and bequests committees of the Archdiocese of New York and the New York City Chapter of the Anti-Defamation League. Mike currently serves on The Chaplaincy’s major gift and gift-planning committee, and organized a successful trust officers’ breakfast for The Chaplaincy, held in April of 2000.
