CPE Supervisors-in-Training
New Positions Available September 2008

Apply by March 15, 2008

Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) supervisors have a special place in the world of professional chaplaincy. More than anyone else, supervisors are responsible for preparing the next generation of multifaith chaplains for service in a competitive, changing, and increasingly diverse healthcare system.

Students educated in The Chaplaincy’s Supervisory Residency often go on to become leaders in the pastoral care field: publishing original academic work, contributing to best practice standards, and helping to recruit more chaplains from underrepresented religions and ethnicities.

The Supervisory Residency is challenging and widely respected for meeting the needs of students from many faith traditions, ethnicities, and nationalities, including those who wish to be certified on an accelerated timeframe.

Supervisory Faculty: We offer a faculty of experienced clinical pastoral educators who are diverse with respect to faith and culture. Chaplaincy supervisors participate on APC, NACC, and NAJC Certification Committees.

Supervisory Peer Group: Multifaith and multicultural peer groups study at The Chaplaincy’s Center for Clinical Pastoral Education.

Clinical Settings: Clinical pastoral educator residents serve in world-class medical centers located throughout the tri-state New York area.

Pastoral Research Center and Library: The Chaplaincy’s clinical staff and educators study with well-published, professional researchers in the field of multifaith pastoral care amidst a collection of over 3,000 books, professional publications, related audio/visual materials, and electronic databases.

Stipend: $32,000 + Benefits (health insurance for supervisory resident paid in full)

Pre-Requisites Include:

  • Completion of Level I and Level II CPE Outcomes
  • M.Div. (or equivalent)
  • Ordination or Faith Group Endorsement
  • Pastoral Experience
