Supervisory Residency Program
With the CPE Supervisory Residency Program You Can Become a Leader in Professional Chaplaincy
The role of a Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) Supervisor is that of leader in the world of professional chaplaincy. CPE supervisors are ultimately accountable for preparing the next generation of multifaith chaplains for service in a changing and increasingly diverse healthcare system.
HealthCare Chaplaincy is one of the largest ACPE programs in the United States. We have six ACPE supervisors, 6 supervisory education students and nearly 180 CPE students per year.
Students educated in HealthCare Chaplaincy’s Supervisory Residency often go on to become leaders in the pastoral care field: publishing original academic work, contributing to best practice standards, and helping to recruit more chaplains from underrepresented religions and ethnicities.
HealthCare Chaplaincy’s Supervisory Residency is both widely respected and challenging. We offer a faculty of experienced clinical pastoral educators who are diverse with respect to faith and culture. HCC supervisors participate on APC, NACC, and NAJC Certification Committees. Supervisory residents serve in world-class medical centers in the metro New York area, simultaneously practicing as staff chaplain and learning as a CPE Supervisory Education Resident.
Requirements for admission in the Supervisory Residency Program are the same for meeting a certification readiness committee and include faith group endorsement, completion of Level I and Level II CPE Outcomes, an M.Div. (or equivalent) and a solid pastoral identity. Consult certification manual for readiness requirements at www.acpe.edu. Years 1-3 of this program includes a stipend of $32,000, healthcare benefits, paid time-off and reimbursement for certification expenses.
